To and from the Airport.
There's a terrific shuttle service that picks you up from the airport and drops you at the ferry terminal. It does the same in reverse when you have to head home. Their rates are very reasonable. Check them out.
Getting to the island.
There are two ways of getting to the island. (unless you have your own boat!)
1. Sealink passenger ferry. They run lots of services a day and the trip only takes about 20 minutes. The shuttle bus from the airport will drop you at the door of the ferry terminal.
2. Magnetic Island Ferries vehicle barge (which also takes walk-on passengers). If you happen to be driving up and want to bring your car to the island, this is how you do it. Be aware if you have anything other than a stock standard car (as in a ute with a trailer or even a car with a bike rack on the back) may be more expensive and you'll have to talk to them about which barge you can come over on (as unloading a trailer at the island end is tide dependent). The trip takes about 1 hour.
These two services leave from opposite sides of the creek so make sure you know which service you are trying to catch!
Getting around on the island:
We will have our cars available for people to use and to run people around but.... if you want to have some independence, there are a few options.
The bus is good.... but don't forget you have to use cash.
And, you might like fishing... so, if you want to, you can hire a boat.
